Waitangi Day

Waitangi Day is a holiday for NZers to celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Waitangi Day was when NZ became known as a country called New Zealand, Aotearoa.
On the 6th of February, 1840, in the Bay of Islands, 500 Maori chiefs signed the Treaty and representatives of the Queen.

On Waitangi Day, I went to the Point to celebrate with my family, then I watched the Funky Monkeys with my baby cousin, then we watched the magic show. The magic show was cool because a man chopped a girl in half then put her back together, then he made a disgusting cake but, when he pulled it out, it looked yummy.
